Welcome to ROC the Block, Portsmouthโs initiative to ๐ฅeclaim ๐ขur ๐ommunity. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods by addressing key issues and improving the community's appearance and safety. This isnโt just one event โ itโs a long-term commitment to do everything possible to make our neighborhoods safe, attractive, and prosperous.
To kick off the process, we invite you to join community representatives and fellow volunteers on July 16th at the Portsmouth Sportsplex for our Brighton & Southside Neighborhood event!
Jimmy John's will provide lunch for all participants!
Together, weโll walk the area picking up trash and identifying concerns that need to be addressed. Items on our task list include:
โ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ: Inspect & clean storm water drains to ensure proper drainage, and eliminate standing water.
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ด๐ป๐: Inspect street signs for visibility, remove branches or other obstructions, and repair any damages.
๐ณ๏ธ ๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐: Repair potholes in the streets to improve driving conditions.
๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐๐: Report broken streetlights to Dominion Energy for prompt repair.
โ ๏ธ ๐๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐: Inspect both city & private properties to ensure they comply with local codes, and address any violations.
๐๏ธ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ต: Remove bulk trash piles and litter from the streets.
Canโt join us for the community walk? No problem. Keep an eye out for representatives on your street and pop outside to share your concerns or report issues. Together, we can create healthier, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods for everyone!
